Korčula, often referred to as "Little Dubrovnik," for the walls that are reminescent of the walls surrounding Dubrovnik. The island's main town, also named Korčula, is a beautifully preserved medieval walled city. Its herringbone pattern of narrow streets and alleys is designed to provide shelter from the sun and the prevailing winds.
Korčula offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. This island has a rich winemaking tradition, and plenty of the restaurants lining the waterfront carry locals wines. The town is also famous as the alleged birthplace of the renowned explorer Marco Polo. We visited the Marco Polo Museum, which offers a phenomenal view of the island from the tower at the top.
